Deloitte.

The complete experience

Here i'm going to share with you my exprience of deloitte on-campus recruitment process.

Deloitte is usually the company to embark upon the year long process of campus placements in JIIT. Continuing with their streak in 2019, they held an interactive session in sec-62 where we were told about the company itself and the profiles they were offering.

This time around, they were offering us two roles:-

  • Audit
  • Risk & Financial Advisory

This pre-placement session in the auditorium gave us an insight so as to how is the work culture at deloitte and their role in the market.

STAGE 1 - Aptitude test on 9 Aug, 2019

  • 95 minutes test
  • Adaptive difficulty level
  • 900 candidates appeared for the aptitude exam according to the CGPA criteria(>6)

This aptitude test was an adaptive one, meaning that the difficulty level of consecutive questions kept on changing in accordance with the correctness of the previous one. They take their test through AMCAT. It is an average difficulty level test exam with most of the questions in sync with the sample AMCAT papers available on faceprep.

On 12 Aug the results for the aptitude test were announced and I got shortlisted for the interviews and GD the next day, i.e-13 Aug

The next day all the shortlisted students were assembled for yet another session by all the deloitte officials who were there to conduct the hiring process. There were around 11 of them ranging from an alumni of our college to one of the highest senior managers of the organization.

STAGE 2 - Group Discussion (Case study)

  • 5 Minutes to read the case study given to each student on a sheet
  • 15 Minutes to discuss the solution and conclude with a common solution
  • Out of 900, 289 candidates were shortlisted for the GDs

CASE STUDY

An XYZ E-commerce company is undergoing monetary losses due to the listing of fake products on their website by some of the sellers. As a result the customers are under frustration and a huge number of Return/Replace requests are being made. Devise a technical solution to their problem showcasing workflow, architecture and details of the technologies used. Conclude as a group of the organization.

POINTS RAISED

MINE
  • Since there are millions of products with millions of reviews for each, collect the review databases from all over the internet and form an average rating on the supplier, seller and the website level and then on the basis of the customer satisfaction level for each, allow only those to supply their respective products who have a customer satisfaction level beyond 90%.
  • ML and AI are fine for e-commerce giants to implement but small scale start-ups and small scale companies do not possess enough expertise to implement machine learning in their architecture. For them we can have my earlier idea of averagingaws reviews would prove to be much more economical and/or practical.
  • Also while implementing ML and AI NLP algorithms we need to consider the satirical comments and non-serious reviews.
  • One other thing that we would still need to consider is quick and 24x7 customer support. Replacing the fake products ASAP is a crucial factor for the reputation of the seller as well as the supplier.

OTHERS' (As much as I remember)
  • Implementing deep learning in the logistics department for on the spot authorization of products.
  • Cost of implementing, Workforce required, hardware resources required for technologies like ML and AI should also be considered.
  • Implementing ML/AI is a one-time cost or say a long term investment.
  • Robust policies should be devised regarding the access of a seller to the e-commerce website’s product portfolio. If the seller is found to be practicing forgery, then it should be heavily fined or banned from the site.

STAGE 3 - Interviews
(No distinction like HR/Technical)

  • 15 Min break before the interviews
  • 6 Rooms for Audit interviews and 6 for Advisory
  • out of 289, 37 candidates were shortlisted for the interviews

Before we were being called in the rooms for the interviews, we had to wait out in the lobby. The environment was tensed (Stating the obvious)

Feelings like nervousness, anxiety, fear of failure, excitement and confidence were all rushing through my veins

Then finally the guy already in the came out and it was my turn to enter in

STAGE 4 - RESULTS

  • out of 37, 13 candidates were selected for Advisory
  • 10 were selected for Audit
